Cannabis Laws in Las Vegas, Nevada

Cannabis is legal for recreational use in Las Vegas since Nevada legalized through Question 2 in 2016, with retail sales beginning July 1, 2017. Adults 21 and older can purchase from licensed dispensaries throughout the Las Vegas Valley. Las Vegas was the first city to license cannabis consumption lounges, offering designated spaces for on-site use.

Where to Buy in Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas has a high concentration of licensed dispensaries, many conveniently located near the Strip and downtown. Most are open extended hours to serve tourists. Products include flower, pre-rolls, edibles, concentrates, and topicals. Cash and debit are accepted at most locations. Many offer online ordering and delivery to hotels that permit it.

Possession and Purchase Limits

Adults can purchase up to 1 ounce of flower or 3.5 grams of concentrate per transaction. Nevada applies a combined tax rate of approximately 18.25%. Consumption lounges are now open in Las Vegas, providing legal spaces to consume on-site—a first in the United States.

Public Consumption and Local Rules

Public consumption is illegal in Las Vegas, including on the Strip, in casinos, in hotel rooms (most prohibit it), and in vehicles. Licensed consumption lounges are the only public venues where legal on-site use is permitted. Smoking cannabis is subject to the same indoor restrictions as tobacco. Violations of public consumption laws can result in fines.

Tourist and Visitor Information

Las Vegas is the most-visited city by cannabis tourists in the US. Despite widespread availability, strict rules apply: no use in casinos, no use on the Strip sidewalks, and most hotels prohibit cannabis. Consumption lounges offer a legal alternative. Do not attempt to take cannabis to the airport or out of Nevada.

Getting Around Las Vegas, Nevada

Driving under the influence of cannabis is illegal in Las Vegas, Nevada and the surrounding area. This includes vehicles, rideshares, and public transit. Cannabis should be stored in a sealed container while in transit. Do not consume cannabis in any vehicle.

Cannabis Products and Availability

Licensed dispensaries in Las Vegas, Nevada typically offer a range of cannabis products including dried flower, pre-rolled joints, cannabis concentrates (wax, shatter, oil), edibles (gummies, chocolates, beverages), tinctures, topical creams, and capsules.
